Prerequisites: PHYS 5401 or instructor consent.

Grading Basis: Graded

Ensembles, distribution function, partition function. Bose-Einstein and Fermi-Dirac distributions, fluctuations, applications to the properties of solids and liquids and to the kinetic theory of gases.
