5570. History and Theory of Digital Art

Prerequisites: Open to graduate students in the Master of Fine Arts, Digital Media and Design Master of Fine Arts, and Arts Administration Master of Fine Arts programs; others by permission, instructor consent required.

Grading Basis: Graded

Investigation of forms of digital and Internet art and the forgotten histories of the technologies behind them. Forms of digital and Internet art to be explored include games/gaming, surveillance art, cyberfeminism, data visualization, and crowd sourced art, among others.
