Semiconductor optical amplifiers, waveguide and vertical cavity modulators, photodetectors, optical switches, receivers and transmitters. Techniques for OE integration and the relevance of bipolar and field-effect devices for monolithic integration. Technologies for optoelectronic integration for telecom and datacom optical interconnect. WDM techniques for optical networks.
